2016 was the first year that Slimbridge Cricket Club and A&E Fire and Security have been in partnership. A&E have been incredibly supportive of the team and helped them to complete much needed ground renovations, as well as purchase new playing shirts and training wear for the team.
Now that the season is over, Slimbridge look back with great pride. It has been a record breaking season that saw Slimbridge win the league. Not content with that, the team also went the whole season unbeaten. This represents the teams most successful season ever with new records set for Slimbridge’s highest ever total and biggest ever win.
A&E had a big part to play in this triumph in the form of opening bowler Aaron Longstreth who took a massive 22 wickets, making him the second highest wicket taker in the league, just 1 spot off the top. He also made some useful contributions with the bat, with a tendency to hit his first ball for 6.
Slimbridge will run an indoor team this winter as they look to build into next season in the Premier Division, and the team would like to place on record their thanks to A&E for the support they have given the team over the season. Slimbridge look forward to continuing this successful partnership next year!
