Dry Risers

Dry risers and wet risers are intended for use by the Fire Safety Service. Dry risers provide a readily available means of delivering considerable quantities of water to extinguish and prevent the spread of fire.

Dry risers consist of vertical mains which are fitted into staircase enclosures or other suitable positions. They have outlets fitted at ground level to enable the fire safety services to connect into the water supply ready for immediate use in an emergency.

British Standards recommend that the system is visually inspected every 6 months and serviced annually to ensure that the equipment is ready for immediate use in an emergency.
