Brexit Statement
As is true for most companies, the topic of Brexit is a regular discussion point in the office amongst staff.
Like most companies, there is little we know for certain when it comes to Brexit, however as a Company we have been preparing for impending changes and keep on the front foot, so whilst we can’t solve the conundrum that is Brexit, we have tried to answer some Brexit related questions…
At the moment, given all the information which has been provided, we feel our industry is one of low risk with minimal impact. As a longstanding, sustainable Company we have been through many ups and downs in the past, and are therefore in a fortunate position to have a good solid structure in place that can support us in a time of downturn or temporary loss of resource.
As a proud Royal Warrant holder, we are always aiming to source materials sustainably and close to home.
We do not source any items from Europe and have an array of alternative suppliers available to us for imported supplies so should the worst-case scenario happen and imports be affected in any way, we should have plentiful of contingencies. We also hold 90% of all our consumables in stock, the level of stock could typically sustain us for 2 months. However, realistically, we do not foresee any stock shortages or delays at this stage which are caused by Brexit.
We do not foresee an immediate price increase; however, all current research and speculation seems to suggest that Brexit in whichever shape will lead to inflation. It is therefore likely that as a result of Brexit, we will be forced to pass on some price increases to our customers, however customer satisfaction and happiness is key to the way we run our business, we will therefore do all possible and explore any other routes available prior to passing in any price increases.
As mentioned before, we do not consider our industry to be one that will see an immediate change as a result of Brexit, however it is likely that in the long term as a Company we will need to consider further changes.
It is for example likely that employment law as we know it, will eventually be overhauled in order to get rid of EU precedence and law which has been adopted over the years. It is unlikely this will be reviewed prior to December 2020 giving us plentiful time to make any changes necessary.
Regardless of our personal views or opinions that each individual may have within our Company, we do not foresee Brexit to be the doom and gloom to British business, and instead we would like to approach the issue as one that brings opportunity and possibility for the Country.
