Company Culture

Office Shots - James

A&E Fire and Security is now into its 3rd generation Stallard; Graham Stallard started A&E in 1965, the company has since been passed on to Dene Stallard who recently retired and passed on his role to now Managing Director, Edward Stallard.

Ed gained his title of Managing Director in 2017 and has continued to implement major changes in regard to the office workspace. Over the course of the last few years, A&E Fire and Security’s main office in Cheltenham has seen some significant changes. In previous years, the office used to base around 10 members of staff and was made up of individual offices. As the team grew, more space was needed; there are now no individual offices and instead one big open plan workspace. This supports total transparency within the workplace as well as overall office cohesion. ‘The Cube’ was installed in October 2018. The cube is a small glass workspace, this adds to the open plan feel of the office but also offers privacy and a quieter space for meetings and presentations.  Ed believes that nothing should be hidden behind closed doors and that an open plan office aids the positive dynamic of the workplace. Having an open workspace encourages individuals and departments to work together.

There have been other employee perks introduced to the workplace recently as well. In partnership with The Transformation Chef, staff members have the option to have their lunch delivered to the office every Wednesday. This can provide staff members with a variety of healthy lunch options for the rest of the week. This is a good idea for employees that don’t have time in the morning to make lunch, for those that don’t want to go out and buy lunch because it’s raining, cold, or would simply rather not leave the office on their lunch break.

Additionally, ‘Perkbox’ has been introduced to all A&E employees. Perkbox is an app aimed to help employees’ paycheques go further with hundreds of perks, discounts, and freebies from big-name brands. It can offer employees a wide variety of benefits from; 24/7 medical support, discount on top brands, regular competitions, holiday discount, cinema passes and more. Perkbox contributes to the decrease of staff turnover. Having happy, healthy employees makes for a closer, more productive workplace; employees will continually strive to do their best.

Staff recognition is posted internally on ‘slack’ which is our messaging system. If company or employee feedback is particularly outstanding this with be published on the ‘testimonials’ section of our website as well. Overall, A&E have introduced some huge changes within the company over recent years with many more planned for the short and long term future. Team cohesion at A&E is paramount, we all work together to look after our customers and fellow employees alike.
