A&E Fire and Security Bowls with Shurdington Cricket Club
A&E Fire and Security have been sponsoring Shurdington Cricket Club since 2013 in order to contribute to the local community sports clubs. Over the past two years A&E has supported the club by providing both training and match day clothing.
As the 2015 season draws to a close Shurdington Cricket Club can look back upon a relatively successful 2015 campaign. Running two Saturday League sides, a Sunday Friendly XI and a Competitive Midweek XI the club is formed mostly of youth players who have been developed within the club.
The youth players include Carl Lees, Jack Styman, Tom Knight, Mason Beasley and Ollie Knight who have all began to play greater roles in the success of the 1st XI. Combined with the flourishing performances from the more experienced campaigners such as Chris White, James Nicol, Clive Thornton, Alex Sutton and Keith Knight the future of the club looks secured for many years to come.
The season started disastrously for the 1st XI with three successive heavy defeats, however, since this time, the side has regrouped and recorded 7 victories from 13 games including some memorable individual and team performances. Along with the success of the 1st XI, the club has managed to field a 2nd XI throughout the summer and have been highly successful on Sunday afternoons playing at some of the most picturesque venues across the county.
The 2nd XI have fielded many promising youngsters from the clubs under 13s ranks and have seen great contributions from Sam Smith, Charlie Knight and Toby Holland. The under 13s have enjoyed a successful season themselves recording a number of impressive victories in their league. They will now look forward to making the step up to under 15s next year.
Shurdington Cricket Club will continue to run 3 senior sides for the 2016 season along with the newly formed under 15 side. All new members regardless of ability are welcome at either a junior or senior level. Over the years the club have become reliant upon income from playing members and to have A&E’s tremendous support is a real coup.
