Sue Ryder “Ride For Ryder’s”
On Sunday 12th July our team of employees from A&E Fire Equipment participated in an 11 mile and 35 mile bike ride in aid of Sue Ryder. Sue Ryders “Ride For Ryder’s” was the first major event in our support of these charities so we made sure we took it the extra mile, quite literally!
Our A&E team consisted of 7 members of our staff, some of whom you had not ridden a bike for years! The 11 mile route started in Leckhampton, passed through Cheltenham, Staverton, Churchdown and finishing in back in Leckhampton.
Zoe Mitcheson, Service Coordinator said: “I really enjoyed the bike ride in the great weather, especially cycling in a group where we all motivated one another to keep going. The route was challenging but the views were amazing!”.
Another of our team members Vicky Gabb, Customer Services Manager, enjoyed the 11 mile route so much that she continued onto the 35 mile cycle which also included: Boddington, Treddington, Tewkesbury, Forthampton, Corse Lawn and Churchdown. Vicky said: “The 11 mile circuit was great fun and it motivated me to drive myself to complete the 35 mile route. At the end of the ride I was proud of what the team and I had accomplished for such an amazing charity”. To keep Vicky company along the way she was joined by her husband David Gabb from Ecclesiastical Insurance, Gloucester. At the finish line Vicky stated: “I thoroughly loved every minute of the bike ride and I am now inspired to challenge myself to complete the 70 mile next year!”
Overall from our team’s tremendous efforts we raised £800! This will make a difference to many people’s lives and we would like to personally thank all those who donated. This was an amazing challenge for our team and we cannot wait to share with you what’s in store on our next adventure!
