I had worked within the Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue service for 18 years and another 17 years within the Airport Fire service, before I decided to retire and become Fire Safety Trainer for A&E. My day to day includes either driving to different locations across the UK or carrying out Fire Training at our Cheltenham premises. My days are always varied due to changing location, as well as the different courses that I provide.
He has acquired the following qualifications:
- Level 2 safe airside operations (Airports)
- IQ level 3 Award in preparing to Teach in the lifelong Learning Sector (QCF)
- Edexcel Level 3 Award in Assessing candidates in a range of methods

Do all staff need fire awareness training in the workplace?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that all staff within a workplace should receive some form of Fire Safety Awareness Training to ensure adequate safety and basic knowledge.

To stay up to date with the latest legislation and refresh staff memory (as well as teach any new employees), we advise that businesses conduct a Fire Awareness Training course at least once a year.
